Mission and Values Statement
When the war is over, we will all be living here together.
The mission of JCU is to support the professional development of Jerusalem-based artists and arts groups whose work sparks creativity and possibility; inspires interdependence and resilience; generates light and hope; and results in positive social transformation in Jerusalem and beyond.
THESE CORE VALUES ARE EXPRESSED IN OUR WORK:
OPEN HEARTS AND MIND
Art and artists have the power to open hearts and minds when fear and anger threaten to close them.
NUANCE
Art uses color, sound and movement in a vast array of artistic expression to enrich our ability to process complex ideas and emotions.
CONNECTIVITY
Artists create within communities and their art crosses borders, providing connections to this place and its people, to ourselves and others.
RELATIONSHIPS
We value our relationships with artists throughout Jerusalem and respect their potential as a powerful resource to build our shared future.
LISTENING AND LEARNING
As we work together and learn from each other, we recognize the importance of culture and diversity for people to bring their best selves to their work, and to inspire others to do the same.
